Анакопийская крепость в Новом Афоне — одна из древнейших и самых загадочных достопримечательностей Абхазии. Могучий даже по современным меркам бастион возвышается над городом на южном склоне Иверской горы. Когда-то здесь была резиденция абхазских королей, теперь же руины цитадели включены в масштабный историко-архитектурный заповедник.
Anacopia fortress in New Athos is one of the oldest and most mysterious attractions of Abkhazia. Mighty even by modern standards, the Bastion rises above the city on the southern slope of the Iver mountain. Once it was the residence of Abkhazian kings, but now the ruins of the citadel are included in a large-scale historical and architectural reserve.
The height of the anakopian fortress above sea level is 350 meters.
